Update Protection FAQ
Here's answer to some of the more frequent questions we get
about our update protection scheme. If you can't find the
answer you're looking for If you can't find the answer you're
looking for please
just let us know.
"What is Update Protection?"
Update Protection allows you to get free updates for your Helm
licences. This means you'll be entitled to install all
updates that become available for your Helm licence and stay up to
date. This saves you money over purchasing seperate updates
individually.
"If I buy Helm 3 now, do I
get an upgrade to Helm 4?"
Our promise to you is that if you
purchase Helm 3 now, you will receive a free upgrade to Helm 4 when
it comes out.
"Do I get an update protection with a new
licence?"
Yes when you purchase your first Helm licence you'll get 1
year's free update protection with your purchase.
“How much will I have to pay once my update protection
expires?”
1 month before your update protection expires we’ll contact
you about renewal. To extend your update protection by 1 year
you would pay 25% of the retail cost of your licences. For
example, if you had 1 control server licence and 2 remote server
licences the total cost per year for update protection would be
$374.25.
“If I choose to opt-out of the update protection
scheme but later decide I want to get the latest Helm update what
can I do?”
You can either purchase individual updates as they become
available or re-join the update protection scheme at a cost of 65%
of the total cost of your licences.
“How much will individual updates
cost?”
If you have update protection then you’ll receive all updates
for free. The pricing of individual updates will be announced
when they become available. For a major update (such as Helm
4) the cost is likely to be 50% of the full retail price.
"How will I know when my update protection is going to
expire?"
Before your update protection expires we'll contact you but
you can also get a quote for the cost of renewing your update
protection at any time by
contacting
sales.
